Will Matteson is a Maine-based writer and entrepreneur working to make a living by supporting stakeholders and communities throughout Maine’s coast and mountains.

After studying English at Kenyon College, Will moved to Bar Harbor, where he became a leader in the seasonal hospitality industry. Ten years later, finishing up a four-year tenure in management at the Asticou Inn, he has moved to the Midcoast, where he launched a freelance writing and consulting business with the mission of supporting local governments, seasonal hospitality establishments, and other businesses, in Maine.

Will believes that business can and should be conducted with an aim to increasing the general good. While his business is marketing and communication, he strives to deliver these products with a deeper understanding of the context in which they are being delivered. He is building a network with the goal of increasing resilience and diversification in Maine’s economy.

In pursuit of this goal, Will has begun developing work along traditional journalistic lines to cover the communities that he cares about. Is there anything happening in your town that you think should receive more coverage? Send Will a tip! He will work to uncover answers to your questions and shed light on local issues.

Will also writes the Maine Lands blog, which explores the variety of land use issues facing Maine communities, and the state as a whole.

When he is not writing or working on Maine-based business solutions, Will spends his time hiking Maine’s coastal mountains and adoring his beautiful and brilliant girlfriend, Mary, and her dog Sophie.
